Doctor performing an ultrasound on a patient's arm in a clinic.

What is Point of Care Ultrasound?

Point of care ultrasound is performed at the bedside as an adjunct to clinical examination, particularly useful for assessing joint and muscle injuries. It is not a replacement for formal radiographic assessment, but a decision making tool, assisting in expediting diagnosis and treatment.

When Can it Be Used?

It has a broad range of applications, especially in cases of joint and muscle injuries, including: 1. After an injury.

2. Ongoing pain in a joint or a muscle

3. To accurately direct an injection into a problem area for treatment.
